He also acts as general counsel for his law firm.

Bill oversees transactions that help companies grow, including acquisitions, mergers, financings, workouts, shareholder disputes and contract negotiations. He manages teams of legal experts for large organizations with complex problems and offers counsel to individual executives. When clients need additional expertise, he draws on his large network of contacts in finance, accounting and other business services. 

Known for his accessibility, curiosity and negotiating skill, Bill has earned a loyal clientele. “I take great pride in seeing clients thrive and knowing that I contributed to their success,” he says. A gifted teacher as well as counselor, he is committed to ensuring that his clients understand what they need -- from clear guidance on a specific transaction to managing the cultural obstacles they face in unfamiliar jurisdictions.

Although he has not purchased the plaques for his walls, since 2011 Bill has been listed in Chambers USA, the most competitive international guide to top lawyers, which praised him for “impressive work involving buyouts and stock placements.” He has been named a “Best Lawyer” in Corporate Law by Best Lawyers in America® since 2008, and Thomson Reuters has included him among New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers” for mergers and acquisitions every year since 2007.

Before joining Sherman Atlas Sylvester & Stamelman LLP, Bill was a partner at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti LLP for 14 years. He lives in Maplewood, New Jersey, with his wife, a designer, and two children. He is an avid runner, tutors high school students and enjoys travelling to new places to eat well.
